Social Activities in Moscow
All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Moscow by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the French Language School.
A sample of a Weeks ’s cultural programme:
Tuesday: Walking City Tour
Orientation tour through the historic city centre. Tverskaya Street, Garden Ring, Boulevard Ring, Red Square and Theatre Square.
Thursday: Visit to Tsaritsyno Park, Residence of Katherine the II.
Friday: Champagne Party!
Students are welcome to a glass or two of champagne.
Saturday: Boar house night!!
Nightclub with R&B music, dancing and drinking!
Students also receive a substantial discount at the Reebok Sports Club in Moscow. The club offers over 40 different individual and group exercise programs, Yoga, Pilate’s and many others. They further offer a range of sport and fitness options such as: rock climbing, martial arts, boxing, and a gymnasium.
Activities outside of School:
Gorky Park: The park was created by the amalgamation of the extensive gardens of the old Golitsyn Hospital and the Nezkuchny Palace. The park has a play area for children, fun fairs, various rides, and an enormous Ferris wheel.
Novodevichy Convent & Monastery: is a cluster of 16 sparkling domes and has one of the most prestigious cemeteries in Moscow. This cemetery is the final resting place of Chekhov, Eisenstein, Kropotkin and Stalinslavsky to name just a few. The remains of some of the famous people were reburied in this cemetery when Stalin destroyed the original. The convent was used for noblewoman who would often retire here, but was also a prison for rebellious royals such as Peter the Great's half-sister and first wife. An attraction packed full of history and not too be missed.
Ivan the Great Bell Tower: The bell tower soars above the Kremlin to a height of 81 metres and you can see for almost 30 metres across Moscow from the highest window (329 steps up!). This bell tower holds fantastic historical stories and spectacular views.
The Bolshoi Theatre: The world-class ballet theatre, considered to be the second largest in Europe. The theatre has various performances of operas, ballet and occasionally masked balls. Performances occur nightly so why not book a ticket and see the fantastic shows for yourself.
Red Square: It would be criminal to visit Moscow without taking a trip to see the Red Square. It is the oldest and most historical square in Moscow and is home to some of the most famous landmarks in Moscow, which include the brightly coloured onion domes of St. Bastils Cathedral and the Lenin Mausoleum.
