About Mexico
Mexico has over 8000 miles of coastline, with shorelines along the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It borders the US, Belize and Guatemala and is 8 times larger than the UK. Its geography has much to offer, from the jungles of the Yucatán Peninsular to the beach resorts of Cancun and Acapulco not forgetting the high Sierras and deserts of the centre and north of the country.
It is renowned for its Mayan and Colonial Spanish heritage, but it is the sights and sounds of modern Mexico that will beguile the visitor. The chilli stores, bakeries and chocolate mills and markets selling unfamiliar flowers and fruits, electronic watches and pre-Hispanic artefacts. Think of Mexico and you will no doubt think Tequila, Tortillas, Mariachi strollers and old Spanish colonial cities.
It is also a major silver producer, an oil supplier to the US, and has an important agricultural export industry, producing avocados, sugar and coffee.
However it is the Mexican people, their warmth and character formed from a strong set of traditions and religious beliefs that will win the heart of all who visit this unforgettable country.
