Established in 2004, the Spanish language school, located in the very centre of Playa del Carmen just two blocks from the beach, is a fabulous place to learn Spanish in Mexico.
The language school in Playa del Carmen offers a wealth of Spanish courses to suit all needs, from long-term Spanish courses to the intensive Private tuition and Combined Courses. The school consists of two adjoining buildings; a colonial style house with a domed roof and terrace at the front which houses the reception, two large student apartments and an exclusive French restaurant; and a new, purpose built building at the back that contains the teachers' room, the study room, the internet access room, offices, the Spanish language course classrooms and two more student apartments.
There are 10 spacious classrooms in total, all with air conditioning and great views of the garden, which is full of exotic trees and plants. There is also the bar area in the garden where students can relax and socialise after class and there are dozens of bars, restaurants and shops nearby and the beach is just around the corner. Playa del Carmen is the perfect, chilled out location for anyone who wants to learn Spanish in Mexico, studying in a professional Spanish language college whilst living in a first class sea side resort.
The Playa del Carmen Spanish language school is at it's busiest from mid December through to Easter (especially with European language students looking to escape the winter blues and combine their Spanish language studies with plenty of sunshine and a golden beach) and again in the July/August summer season. We recommend that students books as early as possible for these periods, last minute bookings are possible, but not guaranteed!
Remember that the Mexico coast can suffer from hurricanes, generally speaking the riskest period is from August through to October, but the season runs from June/November. Most of the time nothing at all will happen, but if one does occur - a lot of rain can fall.

Spanish language students in Playa del Carmen
The average age of the Playa del Carmen Spanish language school students is 24-28yrs, although there are often students as young as 16yrs and as old as 75yrs. The majority of The Spanish language students are young professional people who need Spanish to develop their careers. There are also a significant number of students who are full-time students in their own countries, as well as an increasing number of people who are simply learning Spanish as a hobby.
As for their countries of origin, last year 64% were European, 31% from North America, with the remaining 5% from quite literally all over the world!
Spanish language school internet access
The Spanish language school has an internet room which is used regularly for Spanish classes. A typical Internet activity will involve searching Spanish websites for information and students work together (not with one computer each) so that they constantly have to talk in Spanish, about the materials they find, as well as the task itself.
When the internet room is not being used for teaching, it is made available for student use. It is possible to reserve a computer for 30 minutes a day but, if no one else wants it, students can in fact use it for as long as they wish. In addition there are several internet cafés near the school, which offer internet access for as little as 2 US$ per hour. So it is always easy to stay in touch with everyone at home.

All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Playa del Carmen by participating in guided excursions and activities offered by the Spanish Language School. These social activities enable students to get to know Playa del Carmen, the people and the surroundings.
