Social activities in Cusco

All language students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Cusco, Peru by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the Spanish language college.

The college offers various events, such as: visits to Inca or Colonial museums, local festivals, Inca art lessons, hiking, soccer games, and barbecues. Half-day and Full-day excursions include such things as a trip to Machu Picchu, or to the mountains.

Each Monday students will receive details with a weekly itinerary, giving the dates, schedule and costs. So you can pick and choose to suit your mood.  Costs vary from just US 2.00 dollars to cover public transport in the city, to US 130.00 dollars for a full weekend excursion.

During the week you can discover the narrow streets of Cusco, museums and local festivities. You can also enjoy the entertaining nightlife. Enjoy the landscape of this beautiful city and the exquisite Peruvian cuisine!

On weekends you can visit the monuments and tourist attractions around Cusco. In the Sacred Valley for example you can explore the city of Pisaq and its craft market, the ruins of Chinchero or Ollantaytambo, which are wonderful examples of Incan city planning.
If you've got an adventurous streak and love nature make a trip to Manu National Park or Pongo de Mainique so you can experience the Andean jungle for yourself.

The must do for all Cusco based Spanish language students is of course a visit to Machu Pichu, the sanctuary of the Incas, from the Spanish in the 1600's. "The unrecoverable city of the Incas" is the most popular and spectacular archaeological site in the area. Walk the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and admire the flora and fauna.

Tip: Give yourself a week in Cusco before going to Machu Pichu to adjust to the high altitude of Cusco (Machu Picchu is even higher), your body needs some time to get adjusted. One remedy is to take advantage of the local remedy for the problem - Coca, drunk as Coca Tea to help over come the lethargy that altitude induces.
