About Granada

Learn Spanish and ski (January/March) or horse ride (all year). The Granada college offers language students courses year round, with start dates suitable for all language levels every month. Enjoy learning Spanish on long term Academic Year or Languages for Life courses, or short term Intensive, Combined or Private Tuition Programmes.

The capital of Granada Province, Granada itself is situated right next to the Sierra Nevada mountains, some 70 km from the coast. The city is famous for the Alhambra and its Arabic heritage and also the caves of Sacromonte, and the gypsies who lived there and developed the art of flamenco.

Set inland, one and a half hours north east of Malaga, it appeals to language students of all ages. The narrow, cobble stoned streets and white washed houses of the Albaícin, the old Arabic quarter of the city, are home to numerous squares with terazas, perfect for sitting and watching the world go by.

With a summer temperature that can reach the mid 40°Cs and mild winter temperature, Granada bathes its visitors in sunshine for most of the year. As the heat is dry rather than humid, summer heat is more bearable here, than in most of Spain.

The attractions of the city are many, fabulous architecture, medieval streets, a multitude of bars, clubs and restaurants, the spectacular Alhambra, which is a massive castle constructed over many centuries by the Arab Sultans pre 1492 and by Charles V of Spain in the 16thc.

There truly is something to appeal to all tastes and interests. Granadainos live at a fast pace and in particular love their nightlife, with a wealth of flamenco clubs, local tapas bars and restaurants on offer. Granada appeals to language students who want to discover Spanish culture in this fabulous city, whilst improving their language skills.
