About Marbella

Marbella is located in the south of Spain, and has a population of 300,000 inhabitants. The city is one of the more exclusive resorts in Europe, an old, typical Andalusian town that still preserves its character.

It is also close to major cities and legendary cultural centres: Malaga, Granada and Seville. Marbella has the typical Andalusian flavour. It is well communicated by two close international airports: Malaga and Gibraltar.

Marbella is also well known for being the “golfers paradise”. It is possible to play golf every day and even at night in the first European illuminated golf course. Marbella is famous for its wonderful beaches and marina where luxurious yachts arrive from all over the world. It also has beautiful boutiques, countless golf courses, beautiful landscapes, luxury hotels and shopping centres and vibrant nightlife.

The average temperature all year long is 22oC rising to 30 oC in the summer months and the sun shines around 320 days per year.

Local Specialities

Marbella is never short of Tapas, the most famous plate being “fritura malaguena” which consists of fried fish based on the catch of the day. Sometimes “ajo blanco” a garlicky local version of gazpacho made with almonds is served, especially in the summer. Fried squid or octopus is another favourite, as are little Spanish style herb- flavoured meatballs. Tortilla (an omelette, often with potatoes) is the most popular egg dish. Other well known tapas include pungent tuna, grilled shrimp, “piquillos rellenos” (red peppers stuffed with fish), “bacalao” (salt cod) and mushrooms sautéed in olive oil and garlic.
