About Tenerife
Learn Spanish in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife. The college offers group and private tuition programmes throughout the year. You can combine your Spanish studies with scuba diving (beginners to advanced courses) with a local Diving Club or simply soak up the sun. The majority of the tourists stick to the southern coastal resorts, leaving Puerto de la Cruz to the locals and the language students! It is a popular location with wind surfers and divers. However it's main attraction is the excellent climate and year round sunshine. This appeals to tourists and language students alike, especially during the colder European months!
Tenerife is located in the Atlantic Ocean, and is the largest island of the Canary Archipelago Tenerife has a population of approximately 300,000 inhabitants and is called “the island of eternal spring”; the average temperature here is 27oC. Tenerife has beaches with soft; clean sand that is mostly black (due to its volcanic origin).
A Mountain chain runs through the centre of Tenerife and in the heart of the chain, is a gigantic crater: Teide (the highest peak in Spain). This offers some of the most spectacular landscapes of the world, very errie and well worth a look!
The carnival of Tenerife is a wonderful festival, celebrated all over the island, but at its most spectacular in Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz. One of the most popular sites of the island is the Loro Parque with magnificent botanical gardens, the largest aquarium with penguins in Europe and exciting attractions.
